Single Parent Survival Secrets
Single parenting is a tough job and it can take its toll on the best of us, but have you ever wondered how single parenthood actually impacts a person over time. No matter what situation has made an individual solely responsible for raising a child, it can be an extremely stressful lifestyle; and that’s just the parenting part. Single parents also have to contend with paying the bills, going to school or work, making meals, doing the dishes and the rest of the housecleaning, and then fit in good parenting among all of those tasks. After it all, there’s barely time to breathe. It can be exceptionally exhausting. As the children grow older, they start to become interested in extracurricular activities, meaning that ballet and baseball practices are also thrown into the mix. Once they return home, they need help with their homework, a bath, and their clothes need to be set out for the next day. And this is when the child is healthy – colds, chicken
pox, and ear infections, anyone?
When you’re a single parent, all of these tasks are up to you. Believe it or not, though, it is possible, and you can do it while maintaining your sanity and still bring up a happy healthy kid. One of the main tricks is to remember that you are also a person with needs, and your needs also must be fulfilled. You need organization, support, and a few moments to yourself every day. Organization is something that you can learn. Use calendars and schedules whenever possible. This allows you to work everything in at the best possible times without forgetting appointments or double-booking a certain time.
It will also help you to plan ahead and get yourself ready for the upcoming days. Support is something that you can find in the people you’re close to – friends and family – as well as professionals in your life such as pediatricians, pharmacists, and even the child’s teacher. Don’t forget that it’s also a good idea to grab a copy of a good quality single
parenting guidebook that will provide you with a reference along the way. Download a copy of Single Parenting Secrets to make sure that you always have it available. Time to yourself can consist of just about anything. A couple of hours every week when your mother watches the child and you rent a movie with a friend, or even just a warm bath at
the end of the night after the little one is tucked in and sound asleep. It’s important to take a few moments that are just for you.
